One-timers are excellent for creating fast scoring opportunities and not giving the goaltender a chance to set prior to the shot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZJAmx89gDrQ\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZJAmx89gDrQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Key Teaching Points<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Puck should be shot similar to a slap shot, located between the middle of your feet and the back foot<\/li>\n<li>Hands just over shoulder-width apart (this will vary based on the degree of knee bend and &#8220;sitting&#8221; in to your shot)<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the weight to the back leg<\/li>\n<li>Low stance on the shot motion, transferring your weight to your front foot<\/li>\n<li>Open your hips and front foot toward your target<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared (and practice) adjusting your stance to accomodate for passes slightly off target<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Example from the NHL:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qjezs-zCcyQ\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qjezs-zCcyQ<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week&#8217;s video covers the basic technique of the one-timer shot.
