Certainly some great points for players to take into their tryouts!
Hi there,
this is more of a question than a comment with regard to scouting. In your opinion, is it better for a player to be on a team that is viewed by some scouts as a “bad” team (but the player is, at least, still staying in front of the scouts); or not be scouted at all?
My son is currently playing on a AAA U16 team in the NAPHL; and the team is struggling (and was actually called “bad” by one scout at the recent Bauer Invite in Chicago). From an individual standpoint, my son is really growing developmentally (he’s a great skater, very fast) on this team – I just don’t think the majority of the team gets a fair look because of their record and the losses they’ve suffered.
I’d love to hear your input so we can plan for upcoming seasons. Thanks!
