Figure 8 Passing – Video
We’re back this week with a quick skill development drill video. The Figure 8 Passing drill is an excellent drill to work on agility, passing in awkward positions, and always being ready for a pass.

As always, if you have questions or comments on the video, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
PS – that’s Jason Myers in the video – partner in / co-founder of M2 Hockey
Where did Jason get the Greyhound hat from?
I should clarify, on the simple shooting hockey drill.
Hi
very good drill. This is the kind of drill (individual flow drill) I use more and more during my pre-season preparation and when an injured player comes back to play.
Thanks guys, your site is one of my best

I really like this drill but the passing should not be so loud i do that drill and I make sure the kids are cradling the puck instead of slapping at it. but very good drill
thanks
I like the idea of a figure 8 but it would be a little time consuming for Youth Hockey or High School hockey.
This would be hard for the whole team to do at once.
Try to manage this with 7 groups doing this at the same time and then rotating the passser.
Hi Jim,
Thanks for writing. We actually run this with our HS-aged players quite often during station practices / portions of practice. We will usually end up with about 7-8 kids per 4 stations, and will run 2-3 instances in one station of the drill. Keeps lots of kids moving, and is pretty straight forward to manage. I agree though, trying to run this all over the ice simultaneously would be difficult.
Thanks for your feedback.
All the best,
